The session referenced a report published by the World Economic Forum (WEF) and the Center for Space Futures, which highlighted the escalating risks associated with the expansion of the global space industry.
According to the report:
• There is up to a 29% probability of a major collision occurring by 2032.
• Service disruptions and avoidance maneuvers caused by sub10 cm micro debris are expected to accumulate.
• The economic loss projected for 2025–2035 is estimated at USD 2.58–4.23 trillion
(equivalent to approximately JPY 387–635 trillion).
These findings underscore the severe economic consequences that could arise from the worsening space debris environment.
